Announcement of Fourth United Nations Conference on Least Developed Countries Secretary General

The United Nations Secretary General has designated Mr. Cheick Sidi Diarra, Under Secretary General, Special Adviser on Africa and High Representative for the Least Developed Countries, Landlocked Developing Countries and Small Island Developing States, as the Secretary General of the Fourth United Nations Conference on the Least Developed Countries (LDCs) to be held in Istanbul, Turkey in 2011.

On behalf of the Secretary General, Mr. Diarra will provide leadership to the preparatory process for the Fourth United Nations Conference on the LDCs. He will also coordinate United Nations system efforts and mobilise international political commitment and broad consensus on an ambitious and re-invigorated development agenda for the new decade in support of the LDCs.

 
Mr. Diarra in his capacity as Secretary General of the conference, will communicate the designation of other relevant officials of the Conference.
