The Ministerial Meeting on “Enhancing the Mobilization of Financial Resources for the Least Developed Countries’ Development” will be held on the 2nd and 3rd October 2010 in Lisbon, Portugal and is co-organized by the Government of Portugal and the United Nations Office of the High Representative for the Least Developed Countries, Landlocked Developing Countries and Small Island Developing States (UN-OHRLLS).
The main objective of the Meeting is to substantively address all issues related to the mobilization of resources for LDCs’ development including, ODA, FDI, debt relief, debt moratorium, global stimulus and crisis mitigation package, domestic resources, innovative sources of finance includng SDR allocation and migrants’ remittances. The Meeting will also examine the international macroeconomic, monetary and financial systems related governance issues from the perspective of LDCs.
The Meeting is expected to come up with concrete ideas and recommendations on deliverables in the area of resources mobilization for LDCs, which will feed into the draft outcome document of the Fouth UN Conference on LDCs.
The event would bring together the representatives of the least developed countries and their development partners, representatives from civil society and private sector and globally renowned experts.
