COP 21-Ministerial Meeting on Financing Climate Change Adaptation in Least Developed Countries (LDCs)
The 21st session of the Conference of the Parties to the UNFCCC (COP 21) is the last in a series of major UN Conferences that are to be held in 2015 and are expected to shape global sustainable development trajectory in the years to come. It follows the United Nations Summit for the adoption of the post-2015 development agenda and the International Conference on Financing for Development, which had resulted into a global agenda in the pursuit of a global sustainable development aspirations as well as a global framework that articulates required means of implementation.
The objective of the Ministerial Meeting is to review various funding mechanisms available to LDCs, discuss ways to improve modalities of access of LDCs to climate change finance and share views on how to build the capacity of LDCs to access and efficiently absorb multiple sources of funding. The participants will also consider innovative ways to scale up investment for “green finance” in LDCs through mobilisation of resources from both public and private sectors.
