UN-OHRLLS Consultative Meeting:LDCs’ priorities in the post-2015 development agenda and the SDGs – 8-9 November 2013
The OHRLLS consultative meeting was organized with the aim of forging consensus on how the priorities of the LDCs – including those expressed in the Istanbul Programme of Action – can be best integrated in the SDGs and the post 2015 development agenda.
Permanent Representatives from LDCs and the Group of Friends of LDCs had an opportunity to engage in an open and interactive discussion about the prospects and challenges ahead for the most vulnerable countries as they relate to the formulation of a Post-2015 Sustainable Development Agenda.
Deliberations on how best to reflect LDC concerns and priorities in the formulation of a global development agenda focused on poverty eradication, structural transformation and building of resilience in LDCs. Discussions also covered institution building, governance and participation as well as means of implementation for a post 2015 development agenda prioritizing LDCs.
Presentations by experts on:
- Eradicating extreme poverty in LDCs
- Key issues in transforming LDC economies
- Institution building, governance and transparency
- Means of Implementation
The outcome of the meeting, in the form of a summary of the discussions to be prepared by OHRLLS, is forthcoming and will feed into the Office’s contributions to the meeting on countries in special situations of the Open Working Group on SDGs in early December.
